- ElasticBox Extends Hybrid Cloud Management with Additional Support for Clouds and Containers

Additional Capabilities for Clouds
Today, ElasticBox enables application orchestration for more than 12 different cloud providers, including AWS, Azure, VMware and more. Based upon customer demand, ElasticBox has added support for CenturyLink Cloud, and has also added additional feature support for Google Compute Engine (GCE) and OpenStack.
Customers of ElasticBox can now take advantage of additional capabilities based on their needs, including: GCE features such as autoscaling support, Windows instances support, and a new functionality that allows users to select boot disk size. ElasticBox has also expanded its support for OpenStack implementations, adding support for Keystone v3 of OpenStack and Cinder v2, along with improved detection on providers without Cinder support.
Cloning an Instance On-Demand
Many enterprises are struggling to deploy and manage workloads at scale. ElasticBox has added a single pull-down button to clone an instance in production and all its related meta-data for deployment. With this single pull-down, users can now migrate a workload from one cloud to another by changing the deployment policy with a single click.
While ElasticBox already supports the orchestration of Docker containers and Amazon ECS container support, ElasticBox has now added Kubernetes as another destination for applications. Kubernetes from the Google Compute Engine is supported as a deployment target, allowing users to build applications and package them with the appropriate configurations for the Google cloud. This expands the deployment options for customers who are seeking to create a wide range of applications that can be packaged into a container and managed via ElasticBox.
With many enterprise IT organizations continuing to evaluate the feasibility of implementing cloud computing technologies within their own environment, mission-critical applications remain the primary consideration. Following is a list of on-going investments:
Management: Enhanced IT administration portal for managing users and permissions via AD or SAML environments, provisioning and reporting insights are available for key decisions related to performance. With this latest update, customers now have LDAP improvements to support thousands of groups.
Self-service portal experiences: IT can better manage users and workspaces while also defining which applications are made available based on internal policies defined by the enterprise. Self-service users include – application owners, IT administration and line-of-business users.
Public Application Boxes: ElasticBox has now added application boxes to the public repository. These application boxes combine all the components and microservices such as: frontend modules, databases, middle-tier application services, load balancers, and more. Like any other box, they can be modeled and deployed with a modern interactive live application viewer.

- Gilbane Completes Auto Technology Project at Evergreen Community College, San Jose

This is an important technical training facility for the college and the Evergreen community. In 2010, voters of the San Jose Evergreen Community College District passed Bond Measure G, providing funds to upgrade both their San Jose City and Evergreen campuses.

The Automotive Technology (Auto Tech) Building at Evergreen Valley College will expand the college’s mission of the college to provide an environment that cultivates personal and intellectual growth, and prepares students for meaningful employment. The building is approximately 25,800 square feet and consists of four labs/shops with 14 lifts, as well as 5 classrooms and specialized features for automobile manufacturer sponsored repair programs.

- Axino Solutions Acquires Ascom’s Systems & Solutions Business Unit

The transaction is part of a strategic decision to accelerate the global roll out of its OSS/BSS product line for the global telecommunications market.

Axino: OSS/BSS Solutions from A to Z
The fresh round of investment underscores the value and commitment our customers have placed in Axino and Ascom, according to Wallrath. He said Axino will increase spending across all areas of the business, most notably in development, systems engineering and customer service. Wallrath also said that Axino will bring on 75 employees from Ascom to bolster staffing.
The company plans to step up the global roll out of services such as its new Fraud Management & Revenue Assurance Solution, FAST, which was brought to market in late 2015. The solution, called game-changing by industry experts, enables carriers to spot and stop fraudulent back-alley operators from using illegal SIMBOX schemes to avoid interconnect fees in real time. Unlike other solutions that are costly, incomplete and technically outdated, Axino’s solution uses SVM (Support Vector Machines and ML (Machine Learning) technologies to instantly access and correlate xDRs, Aggregated xDRs and Subscriber xDRs, providing carriers the upper hand in identifying suspicious traffic patterns and origins before any revenue loss occurs.
Axino also plans to add additional services to the B2BSimpleX platform that was developed with several global carrier partners and carrier forums, including GBET and GSC. - Microsoft to ship developer HoloLens for $3,000 in March
Microsoft says it will start shipping a developer version of its augmented reality device, HoloLens, for $3,000 on March 30.
That’s around the same time Facebook’s Oculus will begin shipping the consumer version of its Rift virtual-reality headset for $600. HoloLens differs from the Oculus Rift in that it makes the viewer see three-dimensional objects in the real world, rather than blocking out the real and replacing it with a 360-degree fictional universe.
The HoloLens operates on Windows 10 and unlike the Rift, requires no tethering to a separate computer.
It’ll use a custom-built chip designed on an Intel platform. It’ll let users record high-definition video that recreates a mix of holographs overlaid on the real world that can be shared with people without the device.
